Preparing for work on a TV series is one thing; learning seven languages for a role is a feat.
On ABS-CBN’s “Dolce Amore,” Liza Soberano plays Serena, a young lady raised in Italy by her adoptive parents played by Cherie Gil and Italian actor Ruben Maria Soriquez.
“It was a challenge for me to play Serena since she is supposed to know English, Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese, French, and, of course, Filipino,” she told “TV Patrol.”
But learning a new language is not a skill alien to the young actress. After all, she’s had practice learning local dialects like Ilonggo for the film “Everyday I Love You,” and Ilocano for the now-defunct series “Forevermore.”
When she isn’t trying to learn languages from every part of the globe, the 18-year-old travels which excites her. She’s worked in several locations like Rizal, Batangas, and Bohol; abroad, she has already shot in Italy.
Liza even revealed before “Dolce Amore” started, the production was planning to visit a special place as part of the story of Serena and Tenten, played by Enrique Gil.

La Presa in Benguet was the main location of “Forevermore,” the series where Liza and Enrique played the role of Agnes and Xander, respectively.
With the continuous success of “Dolce Amore,” LizQuen, as the duo is collectively known, proves once more that they are indeed a perfect match.
Unknown to many, the two were supposed to be paired earlier in their careers.
For one, Liza was supposed to be Enrique’s love interest on the 2011 series “Mula Sa Puso,” but she was cast in “Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo” instead.
“Ang galing lang kasi dati pa lang pala I was supposed to be partnered with Quen many times pero hindi ko lang alam,” she said.
Meanwhile, Liza has been continuously gaining recognition for her beauty.
After she was ranked sixth on “100 Most Beautiful Faces” released by TC Candler in 2015 through the annual Independent Critics List, she received several modelling offers including one from the London-based scout/manager Jonathan Quentin of Wilhelmina Models, and another from Models Net TV in Dubai.
Recently, Liza also gained attention on the red carpet wearing a dress by renowned Pinoy fashion designer Michael Cinco.
In an Instagram post, Michael revealed that he was nominated for the Best Red Carpet Designer at the 2016 Grazia Style Awards, which picked the lace ball gown that Liza wore at the Star Magic Ball last year.
Established by Grazia magazine based in the Middle East, the awards ceremony celebrates the contributions in the field of arts, design, and cultural conversations around the globe.
The Grazia Style Awards night is on March 30.
Liza, whose dream has always been to be a model, said, “If ever in the future, if I have time talaga I want to do it.”
And she might succeed in that, too. Clearly there is no limit to what the young lady can do.
